Seasonal Christian Games & Activities

Church leaders and Sunday school teachers often use games to teach children and adults about the Christian faith. Seasonal Christian games may include lessons about the Trinity, the resurrection and being thankful. All you need to create fun seasonal Christian games and activities is some construction paper and tape.
  1. St. Patrick's Day

    • When people think of St. Patrick's Day, they think of the shamrock. In the Christian faith, the shamrock has been used to teach children and adults about the Trinity. Youth and adult Church groups will enjoy playing a game of hidden shamrock leaves. According to the Christian Crafters website, you draw shamrock shapes on green construction paper and cut them out. Cut each shamrock into three pieces. Do not cut the shamrock using straight lines, but cut using squiggly lines that can be matched up like puzzle pieces. Divide the group into smaller groups of three people, and give each group one shamrock leaf. Hide the other shamrock leaves throughout the building. The teams will search the Church to find the matching shamrock leaves. They can split up or search as a team. The first team to find the two hidden pieces of their shamrock wins the game.

    Harvest Relay Race

    • The harvest relay race pits one team against another to get their apples on the tree as fast as they can. To play this game, according to Christian Crafters, you need to draw a picture of a tree on a large piece of cardboard and paint it. Create apples for the tree by cutting out 20 or more circles from red construction paper. Write a Bible verse about planting, harvesting and giving thanks on one side of each apple. Apply a piece of double sided sticky tape to the back of each apple. Divide a Church group into two teams and have the teams form two lines about 50 feet from the tree. Give each team member an apple, and when the teams are given a signal, they begin the race. The first team member in each line races to the tree and places their apple anywhere in the branches of the tree. They then race back to the line and tag the next member on their team. The next member then races to the tree with their apple. The first team to get all of their apples on the tree wins the race.

    Easter Tomb Game

    • Both children and adults can enjoy playing the Easter tomb game to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus during Easter. According to the Kids Sunday School Place website, you prepare the game area by creating a long line on the floor with colored tape like blue painter's tape or colored masking tape. The players begin the game by lining up single file on the tape, and one player will be the caller. When the caller says "In the Tomb," the players must all jump to the caller's left side of the line, and they will jump to the caller's right side of the line when the caller says "Out of the Tomb." The players will jump in place if they are already on the correct side indicated by the caller. Players are out when they jump to the wrong side and must sit down. The caller can try to confuse the players by saying "In the Tomb," but pointing to the wrong side. The last player standing is the victor of the game.
