Spy Mystery Games

Spy mystery games can come in many forms---from puzzle-solving adventure games online to kids party games---but have one major thing in common: they all test a players' ability to find clues and investigate the area around them. Online spy mystery games are typically played through a user's web browser, and the player may need to download the latest version of Flash or Java software before she can enjoy the game.
  1. Party Mystery Game

    • A spy or mystery-themed kids' party isn't complete without a tense game for guests to play. If you're hosting the party, you can hide a selection of prizes, such as candy bags, at locations around the party venue. Then, as suggested by the Best Birthday website, you should give each game participant a card with clues to follow. These clues might be in riddle form, or they might involve a code that the player has to crack.

Once the player has solved the clues on his card, he'll be lead to a location around the venue where a second clue card is hidden. Locations might include under the stairs, behind the couch, or in a chest of drawers, for example. Only once a player has solved several clue cards will he be led to the final location, where a prize can be found. The amount of clue cards each player must find can vary; as party organizer, you should judge how long the game should last based on the age of the players.

    iSpy Mystery

    • iSpy mystery games are part of a whole Internet genre known as "hidden object games." You've got to rely on your observation skills to find specific objects located in the scene depicted on the game screen. These objects might range from small animals to traffic cones, for example. Each iSpy mystery game is themed around a different location, such as a city scene or a mansion's library. Clues in riddle form at the bottom of the screen tell you which objects to look for, while you can click on any part of the screen to zoom into that location, to get a closer look at the scene's details.

    Covert Front

    • Covert Front is a challenging adventure mystery game that is played through your web browser. The game takes place in 1901 and finds you breaking into a mansion, looking for clues to work out what has happened to a group of conference delegates. Exploring the mansion takes place over several screens; you've got to solve puzzles at each location to proceed to other parts of the mansion. To solve the puzzles, you'll need to pay close attention to clues in your environment and find objects to help you. You can pick an object up by clicking on it; objects on your person are shown in the top left-hand corner of the screen until needed.
