Chocolate-Covered Key
Set up this game of chance by melting some plain milk chocolate. Then, pour the melted chocolate into an ice tray, leaving two of the ice cube spots empty. Place inside those spots two keys that unlock two separate treasure boxes. Cover the small keys with the melted chocolate. Then, place the ice tray inside the freezer. Put a prize in each treasure chest and lock it. When the chocolate has solidified, take it out of the freezer. At your carnival booth, line up as many players as you have chocolate pieces. Instruct each player to pick a chocolate. Tell them to bite into it to see if they win a prize. The players with the keys inside their chocolates get to open the treasure chests with the keys and collect their prizes. Have enough chocolates and prizes ready for multiple rounds.
Wall of Surprises
If you want to give your attendees a bit of a shock after prom, play this game from the School Carnivals website. Begin by collecting a large piece of plywood. Cut out about 10 to 12 small squares within the wood with a jigsaw. Position a ledge at the base of about five of the squares on one side of the board. Then, place the cut-out squares back into place with small door hinges. Attach a small door knob to each square at the front side of the board. When it comes time to play, position a prize onto every ledge and have someone ready at the back of the board with a can of silly string. The player opens a door of his choice and either finds a prize behind the board or gets silly string splattered on his face. Replenish the wall with more prizes as the night continues.
Mystery Box
See how well your prom-goers use their sense of touch by playing this game from the Family Fun website. Prepare by gathering a large cardboard box. Cut out one side of the box. On the opposite side, cut out two arm-length holes. Attach two long shirt sleeves to the base of the holes inside the box. Decorate the box with carnival colors and place it at your carnival booth. Have the player sit at the end with the two holes and place her arms inside the shirt sleeves. At the other end, have your carnival barker ready with various prom-themed items, such as corsages, hair spray and ties. The barker places the items into the player's hands. If the player can guess ten of the items, she gets a prize.
