Memory Games for Students

Memory games are vital for academic success. Half the battle of learning is not just understanding what you learned but being able to remember it and use it. You can make this battle easier for students to conquer by introducing them to games that flex their memory.
  1. Learning Games for Kids

    • The website Learninggamesforkids.com has several virtual memory games for kids that stimulate their memories in novel ways. For example, the game "Ice Cream Madness" requires that kids correctly remember the ice cream flavor requests of a bunch of cats. The game "Simon" displays a glowing disk with four separate colors. The colors illuminate on the disk in a particular order. The child has to repeat the order that the colors glow in, such as red, yellow, blue, red, blue, by clicking appropriate sections of the disk in the right sequence.

    Play Kids Games

    • The website Playkidsgames.com has a game called "Shutter Ball Memory" that tests how quickly kids can remember pairs. An arrangement of balls in a particular pattern opens shutters to reveal smaller balls inside of them, each with a particular color. Students need to remember which balls had matching colors and click on those balls together, locating all the pairs. The game "Musical Memory Turtle" displays a multicolored turtle shell. The sections of the turtles shell glow and play a note in a particular order. The student must replicate that order correctly from memory and the turtle will progress.

    Your Amazing Brain

    • The website Youramazingbrain.com has several memory games geared toward improving kids' memories. For example, there is the memory pairs loader, which shows kids a series of pairs and children have to remember where the component of each pair was located on the screen. Similarly, it has games that practice more practical issues of memory such as remembering telephone numbers. The game gets progressively harder, testing how many digits kids can correctly recall.
