Backyard Car Wash
Set up an area to use for the car wash. Be sure the hose can easily reach it. Don't set up too close to the house, since backyard car washes often involve water that doesn't quite stay in the car wash area. Have the kids dress appropriately for water play, and give each person a bucket of soapy water. Also provide sponges or rags for washing, and a few old towels for drying.
Set up a washing lane by making chalk lines on the patio or driveway. You can also use PVC pipe or rope to mark the lanes if you are on grass. At the end of the lane make a large square for the car wash area. Drivers take turns bringing bikes, wagons, or other riding toys to the car wash for cleaning. The workers wash, rinse, and dry the car, and it is driven off into the sun to dry while the next vehicle in line gets washed.
If you have a swing set you can use it for the car wash. Remove all swings and other hanging items, or fasten them out of the way. Tie a hose with a sprinkler attached to the main cross bar, with the sprinkler pointing down. Once a car is soaped up, turn on the sprinkler to rinse the car, just like a real car wash.
Multiplication Car Wash
This starts with a road filled with some very dirty cars. Each car has one or more numbers on it, representing which group of multiplication facts you want to practice. Make a choice and the car pulls into the washing bay. A problem appears above the car, and each splatter has a number on it. Choose the answer to the problem by clicking on the splatter with the answer. Solve all the problems in the series and the car wash turns on. The car is soaped and rinsed, then drives out of the car wash. Choose another car to work on some different multiplication facts.
Fun Flash Games: Car Wash
Work with other kids from your virtual school to raise some money in this free online game. Everybody---geeks, jocks, guys and gals---is working together at the car wash to save the school. Use your mouse to match the washer to the car by dragging and dropping students next to cars. A red bar means the match is wrong, and a green bar means you've got it right. Watch the patience bar above the car, because if it runs out the driver leaves without contributing to the fund.
