Police Training Simulation Games

Since the daily work of a police officer is often seen as being exciting and sometimes even dangerous, online games have been produced which simulate the training officers receive in areas such as firearms use and driving. As well as these games designed for the general public, there are simulations which are more advanced and used by real-life officers to learn new skills and polish existing ones.
  1. Police Tactical Training

    • This game, published by Atari, is available both as a downloadable free trial version and as a full version, available to buy. The theme of the game is to see how the player would fare as an armed police officer, and the game puts the player in a range of scenarios, beginning in the trial version at the police target range, where the player simply has to hit the targets. Later in the game, the player is placed in more dangerous situations, including a shootout in an alley and a sniper mission, all of which are designed to test the player’s nerves and accuracy.

    Street Kings Training

    • This game is available via the Daily Free Games website and plays out of your browser window. The game seeks to test whether you’ve got the dexterity and calm nerves to become an armed police officer. Taking place in a street scene, the game is viewed from a first-person perspective with the player controlling a police officer’s pistol sights. During play, various targets appear on screen over a short period of time. You need to hit the gunmen and target boards to score points, but avoid hitting the civilians and birds which pop up too, or you’ll be punished by losing points. At the end of the game round, your overall score is calculated.

    ST Car Simulation

    • The software company ST Software has produced this police car simulator game, which consists of a set of four training lessons designed with the emergency services in mind. The game finds the player in control of a police vehicle as it rushes through a busy town, trying to get to the scene of the emergency. What makes this 3D driving simulator different to other driving games is that the player has the option to turn her police siren on or off. Whenever the siren is turned on during the game, the other vehicles on the road react accordingly, which may aid the player or in some cases, may hamper the player, because the game aims to re-create the fact that road users in real life do not always react appropriately to police vehicles.
