Holiday Guessing Games

Guessing games are a fun activity for a holiday party. Their premise is usually pretty simple. Guess what an object you can&'t see is, how much something weighs or how many things are in a container. Anyone can play. The prize if you win the game can be what you&'re guessing or something holiday-themed.
  1. Halloween Candy Guessing Game

    • Put a variety of candy into a trick-or-treat bag. Have each person stick their hand into the bag and guess what kind of candy they&'ve grabbed before they take their hand out of the bag. If they guess correctly, they get to eat it. If they guess incorrectly, they have to hand the piece of candy to the person sitting to their left.

    Pumpkin Guessing Game

    • Have everyone guess how much a pumpkin weighs. Weigh it on a bathroom scale. The closest guess gets the pumpkin.

    Holiday Stocking Guessing Game

    • Put holiday-themed things, like candy canes and Christmas ornaments, into a stocking and have each person put their hand in the stocking and guess what is inside. Have them write down their answers and see who guesses the most correctly.

    Jelly Bean Guessing Game

    • Count out a bag of jelly beans as you fill a jar with them. Have everyone guess how many jelly beans are in the jar. The winner gets the jar of jelly beans.

    New Year&'s Guessing Game

    • Put a bunch of things into a brown paper bag. Blindfold the person doing the guessing and hand them one of the objects. Have them guess what they&'re holding. If they guess incorrectly, they&'re out. Go around until one person&'s left. They get a gag calendar as a prize, "hot firefighters" or "nuns having fun" for the new year.

    Edible or Not

    • Fill half a bag of plastic eggs with candy and the other half with small toys. Hand them out. Have each person guess whether what&'s inside is edible or not. If they&'re right, they get to keep what&'s inside. If they&'re not, they have to put what&'s inside in a bowl in the middle. The person who guesses right the most often gets what&'s in the bowl. If there&'s a tie, split the pot evenly between the winners. Another variation is, if they say it&'s edible, they have to close their eyes and empty the egg into their mouth. This version, obviously, does not have a bowl in the middle.

    Who Am I

    • Each player sticks an index card with a fictional character on their head, without knowing which one they&'ve chosen. Examples would be: Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman and the Tooth Fairy. Each person takes turns asking questions to try to figure out who they are.

    Nosey

    • Hang two sheets from a doorway. Divide into teams. Have one team stand in the room behind the sheet. Each player takes turns putting just their nose through the hole between the sheets as the opposing team tries to guess whose nose is poking out as the team leader chants, "The witches have stolen somebody&'s nose. Who does it belong to, do you suppose?" If they guess correctly, they continue guessing noses until they guess incorrectly and must stand behind the sheet and have the other team guess noses.
