Bottle Bowling
Two to six players can participate in Bottle Bowling, a game that can take place indoors or outdoors on a hard surface. Gather an equal number of empty two-liter soda bottles, both green and clear. Line the bottles in a row in the center of the play area, alternating colors. Divide the players in half and put the teams on opposite ends, facing the bottles from an equal distance. One team is the green team and the other team is clear. Give each kid a tennis ball. Both teams attempt to knock down their bottles at the same time. If a player knocks down the other team&'s bottle, it counts for the other team. The team that knocks down all its bottles first wins the game.
500
This simple catching game works for a group of up to 20 players. Have everyone spread out on the playing field. Stand in front of the group and hit a tennis ball in the air with a racket. While the ball is in the air, call out a number. The number is the amount of points the ball is worth. Whoever catches the ball gets the points. If someone touches the ball and misses, he loses that same number of points. Play until someone reaches 500 points.
Mad Scramble Toss
Mad scramble toss is a game played with a large group up to 50 players. Use as many balls as people playing. Number each clearly with a magic marker. Have all the kids stand in a circle and count off, so they all have a number. Shout "Go" and start a stop watch. Dump the balls in the middle of the group. Each time a player picks up a ball, he calls out the number. As each player finds his ball, he takes it and stand in his designated spot in the original circle. The goal is to work as a team and get each player to find his ball and return to the circle as quickly as possible. Try to beat the time each round.
