Ladder Golf Building Instructions

Often played at picnics and barbecues, ladder golf is a popular outdoor activity. Played with two or more players, ladder golf sees participants compete in throwing pieces of rope with golf balls at each end onto a three-rung ladder structure to score points. Also known as bolo and hillbilly golf, ladder golf sets can be bought in stores and online, but you can also make your own.

Instructions

  1. Ladder Construction

    • 1

Cut with a saw, or purchase them pre-cut, seven 2-foot and eight 1-foot PVC piping pieces.

    • 2

Paint sections of the piping if you want to personalize the look of your set.

    • 3

Place elbow connectors on both ends of a 2-foot section of piping.

    • 4

Point connectors in the same direction and place 1-foot pieces of piping into the open ends, then place a T-connect on the end of each.

    • 5

Angle to T-connectors inward until they are facing and connect with a two-foot piece of piping. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until there is a ladder structure with two parallel lengths of 3-foot piping combined with three 2-foot pieces of piping. This is the ladder portion of your game set.

    Ladder Base

    • 6

Place elbow connectors to the end of a 2-foot section of piping.

    • 7

Point connectors in the same direction and add a T-connector to the end of each, with the diverging connection angled upward and facing perpendicular to the piping to which it is connected.

    • 8

Connect 2-foot piping pieces to the parallel-facing connectors and place elbow connectors on the open ends.

    • 9

Angle elbow connectors toward each other and connect with a 2-foot piece of piping.

    • 10

Connect the open connectors running perpendicular to the piping with the ladder section. The ladder portion of the set is complete. Repeat sections 1 and 2 to complete the second ladder.

    Golf Ball Bolo Construction

    • 11

Drill a hole in a golf ball.

    • 12

Tie the end of a piece of nylon rope and run the open end through two golf balls.

    • 13

Measure off enough rope to separate the two balls on the rope by 12 inches, then cut the rope and tie the open end. This is the golf ball "bolo".

    • 14

Repeat steps 1-3 until you have 6 "bolos".
