Teamwork Activities & Games

Teamwork is an essential part of any successful group, whether it be a class, a working team or a sports team. Teamwork, though, may be difficult to achieve within a group of people who are all unique and from different backgrounds. Team-building activities and games that promote communication and encourage people to work together can help create a unified environment within a group.
  1. Bigger and Better

    • Bigger and better is a team-building activity that promotes teamwork as well as communication. Assemble at least two teams. Give each team the same number of paper clips, between 50 and 100, and send them to different sides of the room. Each team must create something "bigger and better" using the paper clips in an allotted amount of time. At the end of the time, each team will present its creation. The one with the most creative structure wins.

    Scavenger Hunt

    • A scavenger hunt is a fun activity that can be done with large groups. Before the scavenger hunt begins, hide a prize somewhere and make out two sets (or as many sets as groups) of clues that lead to that prize. Next, split up your group into at least two teams. Give each a set of clues. Whoever finds the prize first wins.

A scavenger hunt forces people to work together. It also reveals who has leadership abilities. The group has to think logically and creatively to decipher the clues and ultimately find the prize.

    Egg Drop

    • Split up the group into teams of five or six. Give each team the same supplies. These might include straws, toilet paper, newspaper and tape. Also, give each team a fresh egg. Each team must use the materials to build a protective container for the egg. Drop the eggs in their containers from a height of at least 10 feet. The teams whose eggs do not break wins.
