Games for Girls 8 And Up

When girls turn eight years old they usually feel that they are too old to play little girl games. Games designed for these tween years must appeal to the grown-up feeling that the girls have while still providing them with safe games and clean fun. Any of these games will appeal to any girl ages eight and older.

Drama Bag
- Fill a bag with several different dress-up items, such as a hat, boa scarf, shoes, tie, purse and other clothing or accessory items. Divide the girls into two teams (or more if there are more than 10 girls in the group). Allow each team to choose 4 items from the box. Each team has 10 minutes to come up with a skit using the items that they have chosen from the box. When the time is up, the teams perform their skits for the other teams.
Spin Nail Polish
- Have several different colors of nail polish on hand. Sit all of the girls in a circle. Place a bottle of nail polish in the center. Have the girls take turns spinning the bottle of polish. Whoever the bottle lands on, the spinner must choose a color of polish from the selection and paint one of the girl’s nails. Game ends when all nails are painted or when the girls get bored.
Foil Fashion
- Provide a roll of foil for each player (or team of three to five girls). Set a timer for 10 minutes. During this time, the girls must try to create the best fashion items from the foil such as hats, skirts, accessories and even shoes. The outfits are judged by the other players. The contestant with the most votes is the winner.
Balloon Ankle Pop
- Have each girl blow up a balloon and tie it to her ankle. The girls must run around trying to pop each other’s balloons with hands, feet pressure or by any method they can think of. The girl who has the last remaining balloon is the winner. This game is made even more interesting when the girls are not allowed to use their hands in any way. To protect feet, all girls should wear sneaker-like shoes during this game.
Caterpillar Race
- Divide the girls into teams of four (in a smaller group allow each person to play individually). Provide each team with a bed sheet. Players must roll up inside the sheet and cross the room like an inch worm. They must then turn around and go back to their team. The next player must repeat the actions of the first player. The first team to inch all players across the room and back is the winning team.
