Retro Game Tournament
Encourage bored teens to get out and experience some of the games you remember were entertaining in your childhood. Freeze tag and kickball are staples in childhood outdoor fun. Instead of expecting your teenagers to readily accept the challenge, create one by pairing three or four games together in a tournament of sorts and allot points to the winning teams for prizes you know they’ll love like video game gift cards and downloadable music credits. Choose four or five games and divvy the teens up into teams. They can be playing one-on-one against each other or adding neighborhood friends for group fun. Team members remain on the same teams throughout the entire challenge going from game to game. Reward winners with their prizes and purchase graphic tees of their choice or a trip to the mall for everyone for participating.
Water Fun
Clear out the yard and hook up the hose for an afternoon of water fun. Start their outdoor fun with the task of washing the family car. After a few minutes in, chances are they will be splashing each other down with the water hose. Give them water balloons to fill for a game of water balloon volleyball and fill in additional activities such as laying down tarp or purchasing a water slide for a slippery wet slide show. You can also give them water shooters to chase each other for a spray down challenge.
Scavenger Hunt
Ideal for groups of teens who are uninspired during weekend or summer days, plant checkpoints and clues around the neighborhood for a competition scavenger hunt. Send them out on a mission to solve riddles and unscramble words in hopes of navigating their way through the neighborhood for a pizza and ice cream celebration party at their return.
