I Spy Games for Adults

I Spy games started with families playing them around the dinner table or on road trips, chanting "I spy with my little eye..." Children can choose from several hidden object books and games, such as "Where&'s Waldo?" and the "I Spy" series. But what about for adults? Luckily there are several I Spy/hidden object games challenging enough to keep grown-ups challenged for hours, possibly days.

Death on the Nile
- Based on Agatha Christie&'s novel, Death on the Nile is an I Spy and detective game challenging enough for adults. You start the game with 10 minutes to search three rooms for 10 items each. Some of the objects you have to spy include small marbles and a sarcophagus and ankh, words that children may not recognize. At the same time, you start collecting clues to solve the murder mystery that happened on the extravagant cruise ship. In total there are 14 suspects to interview and 24 rooms to spy artifacts. Escape Whisper Valley
- Escape Whisper Valley, offered on PopCap Games, is a challenging I Spy game for adults. The premise is you are trapped in the village of Whisper Valley due to a rock slide. You must search 25 scenes of the village to spy 10 objects in each. Additionally you must locate a lock and key in each area. After you find all 10 items in one area, you will collect a piece to a map that will help you escape. Between each round you must solve a puzzle. The objects that you must spy are hard to spot, sometimes narrow in size or camouflaged within the background. For some items, names will not be provided, but instead you must decipher clues. For example, if "cleans ears" is on the search list, you may have to find a cotton swab. Additionally, there is usually one task on the search list, such as "replace the missing numbers," which means you have to find the missing numbers and then find where they belong. The Clockwork Man
- The Clockwork Man is another online I Spy game for adults, fit for the intellectually gifted. You will travel around the town of New Conventry, finding hundreds of hidden objects that have been hand painted for the game. Each spying scene appears almost three-dimensional and has the option of either zooming in and out, or scrolling left to right. The objects you have to find are sometimes half-covered and knowing what they look like is sometimes discerning. Luckily the robot Sproket can provide you with hints, although these are limited each round. The game follows a story line which includes solving puzzles, some of which are mechanical in nature. For instance, at one point you need to find all the items and then figure out how to use them to repair a ship&'s engine. You can download a free trial of the Clockwork Man for an hour period.
