Bible Trivia
Testing knowledge of the Bible is a challenge pre-teens in church will be eager to take on. Dividing pre-teens into groups by girls and boys--or randomly choosing an assigned team from a collection plate of folded papers with colors written on them--will add the element of competition and excitement to the game. Bible trivia should be hosted by an adult church member with significant knowledge of the Bible who can give questions and has the answers. Preparing the questions with the answer on cards is recommended for accuracy. Bible trivia cards can also be purchased from most stores selling religious items. Record the points during play to keep score for each team.
Actionary
Actionary is a cross between pictionary and charades. For this game you will need dice, play-doh, poster paper and markers. Assign numbers 1 and 2 on the dice to charades; 3 and 4 to drawing; and 5 and 6 to sculpting with play-doh. Divide the pre-teens into two or more groups. The game host should be an adult church member who will write action words on a piece of paper. One member of each team will be called up for a roll of the dice. After a member has been assigned a number, the host will show her the word she must get her team to guess through charades, drawing pictures or sculpting with play-doh depending on the number rolled. Whichever team guesses the correct word first wins that round. Keep score for each team by recording the points.
Gospel Musical Chairs
Gospel musical chairs will get pre-teens moving along to upbeat heavenly tunes as they anticipate the music to end and hopefully find a seat. This game will involve one chair less than the amount of people playing. The chairs should be set up back to back to provide stability for when the pre-teens scramble to grab a seat. An adult church member should select youth friendly gospel tunes and manage the playing and stopping of the music. Whoever gets the last seat is crowned king or queen of the chair.
