    • 1

Set up the two corn hold boards 30 feet from each other. Remove anything fragile from the vicinity of the boards and make sure you have a few feet of extra space behind each board.

    • 2

Form teams of two. One member of a team pitches from one corn hole board and the other pitches from the second board. Partners stand opposite each other with a player from the other team.

    • 3

All eight bags begin on one side, with each team member holding four bags. The first player tosses one of her bags toward the opposing board, aiming for the hole. The player from the other team then tosses one of his bags toward the board. Play alternates until all bags have been tossed.

    • 4

Bags that land in the hole are given three points. Bags that land on the board, even if they are hanging off the edge, count for one point. Any bag that touches the ground before landing on the board is disqualified.

You can try to knock your opponent's bags off of the board or knock your own bag into the hole. Any bag that falls through the hole, whether by another bag or a gust of wind, counts for three points, according to the American Cornhole Association.

    • 5

When all eight bags have been thrown, the top of the first inning is complete. In the bottom of the inning, players from the opposite side throw their bags, alternating tosses as before.

To begin the next inning, the player who pitched a higher score in the previous inning pitches first. This gives the advantage to the other player, who gets the last pitch of the inning.

    • 6

Play continues until one team reaches or exceeds 21 points at the end of an inning. If the team reaches 21 points mid-inning, play continues until the inning is complete. If teams are tied at 21 points, keep playing for another full inning until the tie is broken.
