Mind Games
Imagine a giant chess set that measures more than 9 feet squared with chess pieces that are 2 feet tall.
A big favorite for years has been the mind game Jenga. Take it outdoors and this set is almost 4 feet tall. Each piece measures approximately 3 inches by 8 inches. There are 58 blocks altogether. The object of the game is to build a tower without causing it to fall.
The giant version of Connect 4 is 47 inches tall and 47 inches wide. The object is to place four of the same color pieces in a row, while blocking the opponent from doing the same. There are seven columns and six rows.
Games of Skill
Try picking up sticks that are almost 3-feet long. There are 30 wooden sticks to this game that are thrown in a pile while each player tries to pick them up one at a time without moving any of the rest of the sticks.
Ladder Golf is a game that can be made at home. It measures approximately 6-feet tall and 3-feet wide. It is shaped like a ladder, containing three rungs that are 2-feet apart. The playing pieces are two colored golf balls tied together on each end of a 2-foot rope. The object is to throw the golf balls at the ladder and wrap it around a rung. Each rung is worth a point. The bottom is one point, the middle is two points and the top is three points. The average distance to throw is 15 feet but that can be adjusted to the need of the players.
Two throwing games that require the same skill are garden darts and lawn target. The darts and discs are thrown inside a ring target similar to horse shoes. Players can decide the tossing distance according to skill.
Physical Games
The large version of Hoppin Mad can be played by adults. The space hoppers are large rubber balloons that the player sits on and bounces from one area to another. They are used for racing. Players get to pick from the Daredevil, Psycho and Hotshot hopper.
A game that has never gone out of style is the Limbo. The poles used to hold the limbo stick are 5-foot, 6-inches long with prongs that reach from 1 foot from the ground up to the top. The limbo stick is also 5-foot, 6-inches long.
The Inner Tube Relay game can be made at home. All that is needed is two large inflated inner tube tires. The tire is rolled between players like a relay for a distance of 50 to 100 feet. Two teams compete against one another.
