DSO Kids Music Games

DSO Kids was designed to help children learn more about music while having fun doing it. In addition to being able to join a kids club, there are multiple games offered on their website. These can be played over and over again, providing hours of enjoyment even to children who are only slightly interested in music.
  1. Time Machine

    • Children are presented with a series of composers, accompanied by a number of facts about the composer. The goal is to correctly identify which category a composer would fall under: Romantic, Classical, Modern, Baroque or Renaissance. This game offers plenty of opportunity to learn information about some of the most popular composers in history, such as Hector Berlioz and Mikhail Glinka.

    Beethoven's Baseball

    • Players begin by selecting a group of five composers to make up their baseball team. Once the baseball game starts, Beethoven takes the pitcher’s mound and gets ready to send lightning fast questions about the history of music and composers, in which the answers determine the outcome of the pitch and hit.

When a fast ball is thrown by Beethoven, a correct answer scores players a home run. A wrong answer usually results in a ball or a strike, depending on what kind of pitch Beethoven throws.

    Music Match

    • This is a classic game of concentration, where players must uncover only two cards at a time to try and make a match. If they don’t match, they both get turned back over and the player tries again. The key to successfully getting through the game is remembering where each “note” was turned over so it can be correctly matched. Players can choose from three difficulty levels: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. The harder the difficulty level, the more cards there are to match.

    Picture Paint

    • This is a simple game that can help younger children with hand-eye coordination and creativity skills. Players get to choose from a small variety of music themed objects and then are presented with a paint brush and colors to paint the object. Once done, the picture can be printed with the name of the artist so it can be hung on the wall.
