Games for Sixth Grade Girls

As pre-teens, 11- and 12-year-old girls have just a short while before starting their lives as teenagers. Therefore, the end of sixth grade often represents a change from childhood to young adulthood. Let them celebrate this age with their friends by having them play some games perfect for their interests and sixth grade age group.
  1. Answer Ball

    • Prior to this game from the Birthday Party Ideas for Kids website, write on a large beach ball several questions. Examples include "Who do you have a crush on?" and "What&'s your favorite movie?" You can also add commands, such as "Hop like a bunny 10 times" or "Give the person to your left a hug." To begin, have all of the girls sit down in a circle. Hand one of the players the ball and have her throw it to a random person in the circle. The person who catches the ball looks at the position of her right thumb and has to answer the question located under or nearest it, or perform the action. Continue playing until everyone has had a chance with the ball, or until all of the players use up the questions and commands.

    Shrieks

    • Start this icebreaker game from the website, First Step Training, by gathering the girls in a circle. Tell all of them to put their heads down and have everyone count to 10 in unison. Once the time elapses, all of the players put their heads up and stare at one other person in the circle. If two players find themselves staring at each other, they both scream and leave the group. If, on the other hand, a player stares at someone who&'s staring at someone else, that player does not get eliminated. The game continues until only two girls remain playing.

    Spin the Polish

    • To start, place 12 different-colored bottles of nail polish in a circle, separating them in equal increments, as suggested by Coolest-Kid-Birthday-Parties.com. Have the girls all sit around this circle. Then, place a bottle in the middle of the circle. Give one of the girls a die, and have her roll it. The number that appears on the die, from one to six, is the number of times she has to spin the bottle. When the bottle stops, paint one of her finger nails the color of the nail polish the bottle points to. After the player spins the bottle as many times as the die indicated, the player next to her has a turn. Eliminate girls as soon as all of their nails get painted. Continue playing until all of the girls but one--the winner--have all 10 of their finger nails painted.
