Indoor Team Games for Kids

Learning to cooperate with others to solve problems helps build character among children and adults alike. When teaching kids the importance of teamwork, you may find that a simple lecture does not produce positive results as effectively as entertaining activities. Have your kids play some team-building games inside to teach them important life skills.
  1. Line Up

    • Play this game from the website Party 411 by first dividing the players into two teams. Give each team member a piece of paper and tell each to write their birthday on it, including only the month and day of birth. Then have the players attach the papers to the front of their shirts. When you say "Go," each team has to get in chronological order quickly from the team members' earliest birthday to the latest. They must do this without saying a word. The first team to get in order wins the round. Continue the game by having the players write down their height and get in place from shortest to tallest and then by their age. Meanwhile, teammates are getting in place from youngest to oldest. The team with the most points at the end wins the game.

    T-Shirt Relay

    • Begin by dividing the players into two teams, as suggested by The Inquiry Net website. Line up both teams so that the players all stand side-by-side. Give the first player in each line an oversized T-shirt and have all the players in each team hold hands. When you say "Go," the first player pulls the shirt over her head and puts it over the next player's shoulders without breaking hands. This continues down the line, with every teammate pulling the shirt over his head and onto the next players' heads until the shirt reaches the end of the line. The first team to do this wins the game.

    Siamese Gift Wrap

    • Play this game from the website, Party Game Ideas. First, gather enough supplies for all to participate. You need several spools of wrapping paper, gift boxes, pairs of scissors and tape. Divide the group into pairs and give each of them one of every item. Have each player in a pair put one arm behind their back. When you say "Go," the pairs all work together to wrap their boxes, using only one hand each. The first pair to complete this task wins the game. To make the game harder, have each player place his more dexterous hand behind his back.
