Information on Games to Play Indoors Without Talking

Whether you have a group of friends coming over or need to keep your young children entertained, you have a variety of options to choose from in terms of games. If you want to reduce the noise level often associated with more rowdy activities played outdoor, try playing some silent indoor games.
  1. What's Missing?

    • Begin this memory game, from the website Kids Birthday Party Guide, by placing a variety of household objects onto a tray or table. Assemble all of the players around the objects and point to one player to turn around. Once that player can't see the rest of the group, point to another player to steal one of the objects from the tray. Tap the first player on the back, prompting him to turn back around. He, without speaking, draws the object down on a piece of paper. If he draws the correct object, he then has to guess which player stole it by pointing to that player. He has five chances to guess correctly. After the fifth guess, he has to start all over again with a different object and "thief." If he does guess correctly, someone else takes a turn guessing.

    Double Charades

    • Prior to the game, come up with enough charades ideas for half of the amount of people playing, according to the website, Party Game Ideas. For instance, if you have 10 people playing, come up with five ideas. Write each idea on two separate slips of paper so that every player shares a charade with another player. Place all of the papers in a bowl and have all of the players pick a charade. Assemble the group into a circle. When you motion for the participants to start, the players all act out the word written on their paper. At the same time, the players then silently try to find others who have the same charade. Once all of the pairs think they have found their correct matches without saying a word to each other, have everyone reveal their papers. Eliminate any pairs who guessed incorrectly, and start another round with different charades.

    Line Up

    • To play this game, from the website Party 411, have all of the players write down their birthdays on papers. Attach these papers to the front of the players' shirts so that everyone can see them. Then, divide the players into two teams. When you snap your fingers, the players all silently have to line themselves up from earliest birthday to latest (according to month and day). The first team to get in correct chronological order wins the round. In the next rounds, have the players line up according to state (northern-most to southern-most), their height (shortest to tallest) and their age (youngest to oldest). Whichever team has the most points at the end of the game wins.
