How to Make Boxes for Washer Games

Washer games provide an easy family sport that you can take almost anywhere. Similar to the popular game of horseshoes, you throw an object toward a base to score points based on how close you land to the end goal. According to the Game of Washers website, "there are many different versions of the game," ranging from two holes dug into the ground 20 feet apart to open wooden boxes with PVC pipe in the center to large enclosed boxes with three holes on top. You can easily make your own game using open wooden boxes with PVC pipes.

    • 6

Cut a four-inch-diameter hole into the center of your 13x13-inch piece of outdoor carpet.

    • 7

Place the cut carpet over the center PVC pipe so that it slides down into contact with the bottom plywood.

Staple the carpet into place with the staple gun.

Paint, seal or prime the wood sections of the box to create your own unique washers box.
