Homemade Tetherball Pole

Tetherball is a back- and school-yard game that was introduced in the 1970s. It is played by two people with a ball attached to a cord from an upright pole. Players use either their hands or paddles to wind the ball and cord around the pole. Shop for tetherball poles online or make your own using an aluminum pole, shovel, drill and a few other items. It is a relatively simple process if you can handle a drill.

      drill

Use the drill to make a hole at least 2 inches from the top of the tetherball pole. Screw in the eye bolt. Eye bolts have looped heads made for a rope or hook.

      dirt and shovel

Decide where you want your tetherball pole to go in your backyard and dig a hole 2.5 feet deep.

Place the aluminum pole in the middle of the hole you have dug. Center the pole; have someone hold the pole if necessary while you fill in the hole with dirt. You can also pour wet concrete around the hole for extra support if you feel it is needed.
