Holiday Party Games for Kids at School

As a holiday approaches, kids in school can be come restless. Playing holiday party games at school can be helpful by allowing the kids to get rid of some of their anxious holiday energy while allowing the learning to continue. You should also try to develop holiday games that can incorporate some of the material that the children are studying as well. This way you can help them review their material and enjoy a holiday game at the same time.
  1. Dressing Santa

    • The game of "Dressing Santa" is similar to the party game "Pin the Tail on the Donkey." You start with a picture of Santa in his long underwear, and then have the children pin clothing to him. To add to the game you should use the approach of blindfolding the child, spinning him a little and then letting him go as you would for the popular party game. To keep the children safe you should use Velcro instead of pins and a corkboard. Get the children involved in creating the game by having them draw Santa in his long underwear and create the cut-outs of his clothing as a group.

    Valentine's Bingo

    • Before the children exchange valentines on Valentine's Day, have them play Valentine's Bingo. Create sheets with at least 50 Valentine's Day related phrases on them such as "kiss me" and "cutie pie." The phrases should be a maximum of three words. Have the children fill in phrases from the sheet in to the empty boxes on bingo cards. Remind them to make sure each box has a unique phrase. When they are done, have them give the bingo card they made to someone else in the class. Call off the phrases as though they were bingo numbers, and have the children put a mark on their card each time you call a phrase that they have. Each time a child gets a bingo, have the call out a Valentine's Day phrase from the list. Give each winner a prize such as candy or cookies. You can either keep calling phrases after the first winner to allow another winner or have the children make new cards.

    Bobbing for Cookies

    • Having children bobbing for apples in a tub of water could be dangerous, so instead you can have them reach up and bob for cookies. Get a broomstick and tie a series of strings to it that hang down when you hold the broomstick parallel to the ground. Tie a Halloween themed cookie to the end of each of the pieces of thread. Then, you hold the broomstick high enough for the children in the class to reach up and bob for cookies.
