Christian Games for Church

Most everyone loves to play games. This is true whether you're in preschool or an adult and it is especially true when there is a large group of people. Most parties have a theme and the games correspond to that particular theme. Likewise, it is also important to have appropriate games that correlate to the place and/or atmosphere where the people are gathering. Therefore, it makes sense that games played at church need to be religious in nature.
  1. Find Your Partner

    • The find your partner game can be fun to play when there is an even amount of people present. While adults will be the most successful at it, older children can play too.

You will need to have a list of names prepared and printed out on separate sheets of paper before the guests arrive. The biblical names you will want to print will be those of biblical couples, for example, Adam and Eve, Jacob and Rachel, and Joseph and Mary.

When your guests arrive, you will tape a name on the back of the person. Be sure the guest does not see who he/she is. When all of the guests have arrived and everyone has a name taped to their back, give the instructions.

Each person has to figure out their identity by asking various questions to the other guests. Once they have found out who they are, they have to find their partner. The first three (or however many you decide) to be successful can win a prize.

    Biblical Charades

    • The biblical charades game is another fun game to play at a church gathering. Divide everyone into two groups. Additionally, you will also need one person to resolve disagreements, therefore, this person will not be playing the game.

Give each team strips of paper, pencils and a bowl. Allow them five minutes to write down various biblical books, song titles, people and phrases. Take both bowls of suggestions and mix them together into one.

Decide which team goes first and set a time of five to seven minutes to allow the team member enough time to draw and act out what is written on the piece of paper. If their team guesses the correct answer before the time limit is up, they have scored one point for their team. Then it is turned over to the next team to see if they can score a point in the given time frame.

There are no words, writing or pointing at items on the walls allowed. This game is usually played with a one hour time limit, allowing both teams to have the same amount of turns. The team that earns the most points in the one hour, wins.

    Biblical Hangman

    • Biblical hangman is the traditional hangman game, however each word or phrase has to be biblically based.

The game can be played by splitting the guests into two teams or for a large group, split into four teams and have a hangman tournament.

This game is a great icebreaker for parties and Sunday school classes.
