Summer Bible School Activities & Games

Bible school can be a fun alternative for parents looking to keep their kids entertained for the summer. There are several activities, games, challenges and crafts to keep your child busy, all of which are Biblically-based, providing both education and loads of fun!
  1. Sanctuary Soccer

    • This game is a variation of outdoor soccer. You will need one soccer ball and eight small cones. Start by dividing your kids into two teams. Place the small cones in a straight line going down each end of your playing field. Assign four goalies to each team. It is the goalie's job to guard the cones, or sanctuaries. Unlike outdoor soccer, the goalies are not allowed to touch the ball or the cones. However, they are the only players are allowed within five feet of the sanctuary cones. All other players are supposed to kick the soccer ball to the other team's sanctuary and knock it down with the soccer ball. If a sanctuary is knocked down in any other manner other than by a soccer ball, it is put back up. The object of the game is to knock over all of the other team's sanctuaries, while guarding your own. The first team to knock down all four of the other team's cones wins the game.

    Bible Trivia

    • Bible Trivia is an easy summer game to play. Start by deciding rather to have the kids compete individually or on teams. Teams are better for larger groups. Before you start the games, write down a few dozen bible trivia questions on note cards. Make sure they are appropriate for your age group. When you are ready to begin playing, divide your kids into separate teams. For even more excitement, allow the kids to name their teams after heroes in the bible. Read the trivia questions out loud to the kids. The first group to raise their hand and answer the question correctly gets a point. Play to a predetermined set of points, like 10 or 15.

    Bible Theater

    • This is a game that can keep the kids busy for over an hour; however, it works best with larger groups. Divide the kids into groups with at least five kids in each group. Allow each group to come up with a skit reenacting a scene in the bible. Some recommendations are the Good Samaritan, the birth of Jesus and the story of Adam and Eve. Give the groups at least 15 minutes to properly prepare their skit. Once the groups are ready, let each group take turns performing their skit.
