Noodle Baseball
Pool noodles don't have to be limited to just summer fun. During the winter or pool off-season, noodle baseball is a fun and safe indoor game.
Use a knife to cut a pool noodle in half for a noodle bat. Find an old but clean sock and stuff it with soft material such as newspaper or cotton. Use masking tape to bind the sock into a ball shape. Create a small baseball field in a large room or garage, using furniture for the bases. As in normal baseball, a pitcher throws the ball to the batter, who must hit it to run the bases. Normal baseball rules apply.
Noodle Tag
Noodles, which are lightweight and flexible but extremely long, can be used to play noodle tag. Assemble players outside or in a large indoor area such as a gym. Give each student a noodle. In noodle tag, there is no "it." Students must attempt to tag each other below the waist in order to tag their friends "out." Once the players are tagged out, the kids must perform some type of fitness exercise, such as push-ups or curl-ups, before they are allowed back into the game. (If you want, you can simply have the kids sit out once they've been struck). The last kid standing is declared the winner.
Noodle Duel
Noodles are soft and have a long slender shape, which makes them perfect for "sword" fights. To play noodle duels, partner up players and give them a noodle. If you like, you can cut the noodles into smaller pieces for easier handling. The format of the game is like a tournament championship. The paired children will attempt to touch the shoe of their opponent with the noodle. Once the dueler's shoe has been touched, he must sit out of the tournament. Once you've gone through all the original pairs, pair up the winners again. Keep going until the final championship and champion are declared. Penalize hits to the head or eyes to avoid injury.
