Outdoor Fun Games for Men

If you will be entertaining a group of men during a party or bridal shower, it is important to provide them with some activities. The games that men tend to love most are sports-based, as it allows them to compete in something familiar. While you can't always rent out a football field or a large area, there are multiple options, especially if you can hold your event in a park or a house with a large backyard.
  1. Golf

    • Golf is one of the most beloved sports of all men and can be played by men of all ages. Set up a little putting green with a few different holes in the area of the party or set up your own putting course with tin cans as the holes. Get together some old putters from garage sales or thrift stores and let them loose. The men can turn the putting into a competition or just compete against themselves for the best shots possible. Make sure the men understand that hitting the ball hard or off the ground is discouraged due to the potential for damage.

    Ultimate Frisbee

    • This game works best with a field or large space and a regulation-weight Frisbee (around 160 grams). Split the men into two teams and present them with the rules. Each team tries to score on the other team by passing the Frisbee down the field. Once a player catches the Frisbee, they can only take two steps before having to find another player to pass it to. Once the Frisbee hits the ground the other team gets the possession. The team with the most scores wins.

    Capture the Flag

    • This game will help the men think back to their youth and enjoy themselves. The course consists of two areas with flags, two jails and a predetermined mid-point of the field. Each team attempts to capture the other team's flag and run it back to their side of the field without being tagged (and consequently sent to the other team's jail). There are many variations on the game, so come up with the rules that fit your participants the best.

    Paintball

    • This activity will not be suitable for a backyard, but it is an outdoor game that men will love. Often done on a private field, this game requires a great deal of protection and a large open area. Each member of each team is provided with a mask, armor and a paintball shooting gun. The teams attack each other in a combat style until one team is declared the victor. A similar game with water guns could be played in a backyard or park if a paintball field is not available.

    Horseshoes

    • A perfect lazy Sunday activity, horseshoes involves heaving metal horseshoes toward a metal pole 20 to 40 feet away. If your men are not as active as those who would play ultimate Frisbee or capture the flag, this game might be much more enjoyable for them. There are horseshoe game boards you can purchase, but the game works just as well with two metal poles and sets of horseshoes for each team. A score is recorded if a player has a horseshoe touching the pole and scores double if the shoe wraps around the pole perfectly.
