How to Remove Pool Cue Tips

If you need to remove the tip from a pool cue, there's a good chance that it has worn down or been damaged. While someone at a billiard supply store or your local pool hall may be able to remove it for you, it will cost you a whole lot less to just do it yourself. Besides, it's easy. Once the pool cue tip has been properly removed, your cue will be ready to have a new tip attached.

Instructions

    • 1

Place your pool cue down on a hard, flat surface. Secure the pool cue with your nondominant hand.

    • 2

Cut the tip off with a utility knife. Place the knife between the end of the tip and the ferrule, which is the white area at the thin end of the cue. Roll the cue as you cut through the tip, making sure not to cut into any of the ferrule.

    • 3

Sand off any remaining part of the tip until the end of the ferrule is completely flat. You are now ready to retip your pool cue.
