Customer Service Week Games

Customer Service Week is a nationally recognized event signifying the importance of customer service. Celebrated the first full week of October, it honors those who serve customers with care and professionalism. During the week, organizations can raise awareness of the importance of customer service, remind customers of the company's commitment to customer service, and reward hardworking front-line representatives. This customer service week, build camaraderie and motivation by planning a morale-boosting activity every day.
  1. The Extra Mile Wall

    • At the beginning of customer service week, designate a space in the office for an Extra Mile wall. Every time a rep goes the extra mile for an internal or external customer, post the deed on the wall. At the end of the week, host a customer appreciation party. During the party read all the posts aloud and award prizes. It is a way to give public praise and share examples of outstanding customer service.

    Bingo

    • For many customer service jobs, phone work is demanding. Bingo is popular game customer service representatives can play while tied to the phones. To create the bingo cards, make a grid with nine or 25 squares resembling a bingo card. In each box, write a word employees are likely to hear during the course of a day. For example, names of products or services or industry jargon. Give all representatives a bingo card at their workstations. Anytime they hear one of the words on the card they mark it. The first person to mark out a row horizontally, vertically or diagonally, shouts "Bingo." Award a prize to the winner.

    Active Listening Game

    • This is an entertaining game to practice active listening and spur-of-the-moment communication skills. For this activity, use a script from a play. For each round, select two people and randomly select a section from the play. One person reads the selected portion of the script aloud. The second person does not receive a copy of the script. Their job is to act as the customer service representative and actively listen. The customer service rep must then respond as if the script was a need, complaint, problem or another customer service situation. The activity is fun to watch and sharpens spontaneous communication in challenging situations.

    Word Search

    • Playing a puzzle game is another team activity either during a party or while reps are on the phones. Prepare a list of words popular in the department. Slang words are fun as well as promotions and company lingo. The idea is to pick customized terms that helps build team camaraderie. Use an online word search puzzle generator to create the puzzle. Give everyone a puzzle and collect them at a specified time. Whoever finds the most words wins a prize.
