Bible Relay
To play this "Bible relay," divide your players into teams of three or more persons. Line up the teams some distance apart behind at a starting line and give a Bible to the person at the head of each line. As a game leader calls out a Bible verse, each starting player must find the page number of that particular verse. As a player locates the verse, he or she can state the page number to a nearby moderator, without also informing the other team. When the page number is verified, the team member must run to a predetermined spot and then go to the back of the team's line. The game leader should move from team to team, citing a new verse privately as each player finishes the relay run. The game continues until all the players from one team have finished the race and won the contest.
Bigger or Better
Bigger or Better is a game allowing young church members to witness the community's willingness to give. Start the game by dividing a group into as many teams as you like. The ideal team size is four to six people. After you give each group a rubber band, ask the teams to walk around town for an agreed upon time period. Have an adult escort them if safety is a factor. Explain that the participants will be stopping at homes to ask community members for something bigger or better than the item they possess. For instance, the rubber band may be exchanged for a pen, the pen for a piece of paper, and the paper for a can of soup. When the time period is up, the teams must return to the church to find out which team got the biggest or best item out of that humble rubber band.
Youth Food Drive
If you and your group want to have fun while helping the needy, assemble two teams of participants plus two adult escorts to ensure safety. Ask the teams to visit homes in the area, carrying cards explaining that they seek food in the form of cans, cereals, and other foods for those who are in need. The participants should go door-to-door and present their cards without speaking to the people they encounter. Allow each team two hours to gather as much food as possible (you may need bags or boxes). Whichever team comes back to the church with more food in their possession wins the game. Donate the bounty to an appropriate organization.
