Online Games
"Wedding Planner" lets players choose a client couple and plan their wedding within a budget. In an allocated amount of time, players must select clothing, food and venue items, each of which comes with a price tag. The more money players save and the faster they finish designing the wedding, the more points they earn.
"Wedding Day Dress Up" makes the bride the focus, with players choosing her eye color, lipstick, blush, hairstyle and necklace. Players then select a dress, gloves and shoes. The next screen features a choice of outdoor settings; after choosing a scene, players reach the final design stage. Players find a design for the bride's veil and flowers, garden arch, carpet, reception table settings, main course, drinks and wedding cake.
Virtual Games
Girls six and up can plan a wedding when playing various computer-based wedding design games. ValuSoft's "My Fantasy Wedding," available for Windows XP and Windows 98, requires players to choose dress, hairstyle, makeup, shoes, veil and wedding rings; wedding cake and flowers; bridesmaids and dresses, the groom, his tuxedo and groomsmen; and a wedding location (beach, castle, summer meadow or wedding chapel).
Rather than take on the part of the bride, players may act as wedding planners for Zoo Games' "Wedding Dash," available for Nintendo DS. As wedding planner, players help a couple with important wedding details, such as choosing the best cake and flowers. The challenge doesn't end there, however, as players must make sure the reception runs smoothly, even amidst obstacles like falling cakes, quarreling bridesmaids and tipsy guests.
Players try reaching expert status in the wedding design business with Ubisoft's "Imagine Wedding Designer," available for Nintendo DS. Six brides have different styles and tastes, and it's up to players to design every aspect of their weddings. If the day does not run smoothly, the ceremony could result in some surprising events.
The Wedding Planning Game
Lovegevity's "The Wedding Planning Game" educates engaged couples on relationships, helping them plan their nuptials and prepare for married life. While the manufacturer marketed the boardgame for adults, teen girls (and older girls, too) can play the game, either with or against a friend or boyfriend, to get an idea of what a wedding entails. To win the game, players must design each aspect of their wedding---on time and within a $20,000 budget---keeping calm as they run into obstacles along the way.
