Games to Play With a Crowd

When you are dealing with a crowd for an event, meeting or other gathering, sometimes a crowd game is in order. They are fun and exciting, but more importantly, these games can relieve the crowd of any tension and familiarize strangers with one another. You can play these games with everyone attending the event or separate the large group into smaller groups or pairs. There are many crowd games to play, but the best ones are cheap because they require only everyday items to set up these games.
  1. Big Balloon Bop

    • This game requires you buy large, novelty sized balloons (16-inch diameter minimum) at the local art or party supply store. Fill them up with special tokens and air, and then simply throw two or more into the crowd. Then, let the crowd hit the balloons as they bounce around randomly until they reach the back of the crowd. Then, instruct the last person to pop the balloon and bring the token up to redeem a prize.

    Foot-Signing Contest

    • Bring up five volunteers to the front of the room, and have them remove their shoes and socks. Hand each of the volunteers a writing instrument such as a marker or pen. Then, instruct them to run out to the crowd and get as many signatures as possible on their feet within a time limit. The competitors can use both feet, and the names must be legible, but each signer can only autograph their name on no more than three feet.

    I Need A ...

    • In this game, the game director must split the audience or crowd into different teams. Then, have each group select a runner to bring up items the game director requests, starting with "I need a ..." then the item he needs. The items can be as simple as a driver's license, to something zany like three belts hooked together. When each group comes up with the item, the runner must bring it to the game director before any other runner does. The group that brings the most items wins a small prize.

    Sock Wars

    • Designate a section of the floor as the arena by using tape. Then, have all the participants remove their shoes but leave their socks on, and let them sit on the ground. Then, after a countdown, the participants must pull everyone's socks off but keep their own socks on. They also cannot stand and must crawl around in order to attack other people's socks or defend their own.
