Spanish Subjunctive & Indicative Games

Make learning Spanish subjunctive and indicative forms easier---learn through a game! Many interactive games exist that can be played for free on the Internet and are created specifically to help people learn specific parts of a foreign language.
  1. Subjunctive Review: Battleship

    • In this game, players must battle against a computer to sink their ships in a Flash version of the well-known game, Battleship. Players can select the computer's skill level as easy, medium, or hard, and then begin the game. To win, you must select squares on a grid to guess the location of your enemy's ships. When you select a square that a ship is located on, you will be presented with a sentence in Spanish that you must complete by selecting the correct answer. If you guess correctly, you can hit that section of the enemy's ship. If you answer incorrectly, you will have to select it again on the following turn and answer correctly to hit the enemy ship. To win the game, you must sink all of your enemy's ships before they sink yours. See References for links to all games.

Subjunctive or Indicative: Rags to Riches

    • This Flash game simulates a game show in which players must complete fill-in-the-blank Spanish phrases with the verb in its correct form, subjunctive or indicative. Players are presented with four possible choices to choose from. The first turn is worth $400 if answered correctly, and for every correct answer, the dollar amount goes up until players reach $1,000,000 and win the game. If a player answers incorrectly, they automatically lose and must start again. There are also three "hint" buttons to help players along.

    Spanish Subjunctive: Hangman

    • This Flash game will test your knowledge of the different forms of present subjunctive in Spanish through a game of hangman. Players are presented with a hint that begins with a phrase in English, and is followed by a partial phrase in Spanish. Players must then finish the phrase in Spanish to win the round. To finish the phrase, you can select letters by clicking on them at the bottom of the screen. If the letters exist in the phrase, they will be filled in above the correct blanks on the game screen. If not, for each incorrect letter, a part of the hangman will be drawn. Players can type in their guess and select "Guess the answer" at any time. If players make six incorrect guesses, the round is over. There are eight total puzzles.
