Name That Tune
Keep everyone in the family entertained with this fun musical game. One person hums a few notes of their favorite song and everyone tries to guess what it is. A twist to this game is to use the radio. Turn on the family's favorite radio station and play only a few seconds of a song that is playing and see who can guess what song it is.
Slug Bug
In this fun game, everyone stays on alert looking for Volkswagen Beetles, also known as VW Bugs. When a player spots a car, he shouts "Slug Bug" and states the color of the car while gently "slugging" the person next to him. Score can be kept to see who finds the most.
License Plate Game
The license plate game is a fun way to get everyone in the family involved in a search for license plates from every state. Try to get all 50 states before the end of your trip. For added fun, make note of cars with plates from other countries such as Mexico.
Scavenger Hunt
A fun game for the whole family to participate in is a scavenger hunt. Print up a list of items you might find driving down the road. List off small items, big items, restaurants and more. You might even put different people such as a policeman, a girl on a bicycle or maybe a baseball player. See who can find everything on the list first.
I Spy
One of the most popular ways to pass time on a long drive is to play a classic game of "I Spy." One player looks out the window or around the car and spies an object. For example, he might say, "I see something blue." Others in the car must guess what item he sees that is blue. Whoever guesses correctly will then look for an item to "spy," and the game continues.
