Capture the Flag
This is a great game to play in the yard, because teenagers love to run around, compete and attempt to be the last one standing. Divide the yard in half, and place an item like a beach towel at either end. Divide the group of teens into two equal teams. The object of the game is to capture the other team's flag without being touched by any of the other team's members. It usually take quite a while for one player to capture the flag, because each team starts with enough members to defend it. However, once players have been captured and put out of the game, it comes down to a one-on-one or two-on-one matchup, when it's much more feasible to capture the flag.
Yard Soccer
Set up a soccer field in the backyard. The teenagers may have a lot of energy to burn, and soccer calls for constant movement. Soccer is a great game to play in a yard, becuase you can have a game of two-on-two or six-on-six. Use cones to set up the goal if you don't have a small net. Players should not worry about playing defense̵1;just let the teenagers go all out toward the goal and see how many points they can score.
Football Frisbee
You need a big yard to play this game, which is great to play if you have a bunch of athletic teens running around the yard who are skilled with the Frisbee. You set the yard up like a football field, and one team throws off to the other. The team that receives the Frisbee gets to keep it until a poor throw or catch causes the Frisbee to hit the ground. Then the other team gets the Frisbee. The object is to take it to the end zone for a touchdown.
