Mahjong Matching Games

Mahjong matching games are a variation of an ancient Chinese board game which incorporates a group of tiles placed in different configurations. The popularity of the game has led to several different variations in the United States, but the basic concept remains the same. The tiles are placed in several layers and are removed by matching a tile with the same design. The tiles must have an open side, one side not touching another tile, to be eligible for removal. As tiles are removed, additional tiles are revealed underneath. The object is to remove all the tiles from the playing area as quickly as possible.
  1. Classic Mahjong

    • Classic mahjong is a matching game that incorporates 72 pairs of tiles that are placed is several layers on the board area. There are an infinite number of tile configurations, and each level of the game incorporates a different configuration. The standard tiles in a classic Mahjong game utilize suits much like a deck of cards. In this version the suits are Characters, Bamboos, Circles, Dragons, Winds, Seasons, and Flowers. Other varieties of the game may use different symbols as suits, but the object remains the same.

    Mahjongg Alchemy

    • Mahjongg Alchemy begins with the tiles placed in 34 individual stacks that range from two to five tiles per stack. Tiles that are located on the top of the stack, with at least one long edge free, can be removed by matching them with another tile of the same suit. This other tile must also be located on the top and have one long edge free.

    Mahjong Golden Path

    • Mahjong Golden Path follows the same principles as classic Mahjong, but, there are three special symbols hidden in the stacks of tiles. After you clear the tiles surrounding these special symbols, the entire board is cleared. Once the board is cleared, you move along a "golden path" to reach the next board.

    Mahjong Dimensions

    • Mahjong Dimensions is a 3D version of Mahjong. Each tile is a cube, and the cubes are stacked on top of each other. To remove a cube, at least two sides must not be touching another cube. You can rotate the stack to see what cubes are on the opposite side. You can remove cubes from the top or bottom of the stack to begin.

    Mahjong Connect

    • In Mahjong Connect the tiles are placed in rows that are 14 tiles across and 10 tiles down. To remove a tile, you must be able to connect to the other tile by drawing a line that does not intersect any other tile. As each tile is removed, the line containing that tile drops down one level. The object is to remove all the tiles.
