Camera Scavenger Hunt Ideas

A camera scavenger hunt can be great fun, especially with digital cameras so readily available. Aside from the thrill of the hunt, a camera scavenger hunt allows you to go back and look at the pictures later offering even more entertainment.
  1. The Park

    • The park is a great location for a scavenger hunt because it̵7;s free and many parks offer room for parties to roam. There are different types of parks depending on your age group. Choosing a park with a beach, trails or a lake is a great way to ensure there are extra things to photograph on your party̵7;s search, particularly during the summer when wildlife may be more likely to be roaming about. You can have each group photograph anything from ducks to trees that look like monsters, or you can have your teams pose in hilarious scenarios.

    Hardware/Grocery Store

    • Going to a store offers miles of shelves and products, and can keep groups active for hours in their search for all the items on their list. Even if you̵7;ve worked in retail, you can attest for how difficult it can be to find certain items throughout the store, once you include end caps and seasonal items. A photo scavenger hunt in a store allows you to search for miscellaneous products and things without taking them with you, so you and/or the store clerk won̵7;t have to put them away after you̵7;re finished with the search.

    IKEA

    • If you have an IKEA near you, and you̵7;re groups are feeling real adventurous, ask them to pose in the toilet section, or pretending to be looking for food in the kitchen cabinet area. Have them take pictures pretending to be at home in different sections of the store, or doing wacky things.

    The Mall

    • The mall is a great place for a picture scavenger hunt for one major reason: there are clothes there. This means you can send your groups out to take pictures of each other trying on clothes, and keep them entertained for hours, only limited by the amount of costumes you can come up with. Have them dress in summer clothes if it̵7;s winter, and winter clothes if it̵7;s summer. Have them dress in maternity clothes, or from head to toe in just one color. Find the wackiest hat and then vote on the winner when you review the pictures later.

    Neighborhood

    • Going out in the neighborhood can be adequate enough, and if you̵7;re hosting a kids party, it gets everyone out of the house for a while allowing you to finish up last-minute party stuff. The more ideas you can think of, the longer they̵7;re out. Have them search for certain address numbers, or different colored houses, or telephone poles with transformers, or a small or large dog.
