Rules for Indoor Shuffleboard

Indoor Shuffleboard, which is also known as shufflepuck, table shuffleboard, or American shuffleboard, is a game where weights or metal-and-plastic weighted pucks are pushed down a long table into the scoring portion of the table̵7;s opposite end. To score points, players must take turns shuffling or sliding the weighted pucks to the opposite end of the table board, bump opposing weights off the board and protect their own weights from being bumped off. A typical game is played to 15 points.
  1. Good Sportsmanship

    • Before and after each indoor shuffleboard match, all players must shake hands. All generally accepted good conduct and sportsmanship rules should apply during a match. After the weight has been delivered by the player, he must step back from the board to give his opponent total board freedom with no interventions while shooting.

    Weights and Gameplay

    • Short foul line rule must be taken into consideration. Any pucks that do not clear the foul line after being delivered must be considered as illegal pucks and should be immediately deposited in the alley. Any weight that clears the foul line after being delivered but eventually bounces back to the prohibited zone after hitting a cushion or another weight should be recognized as illegal and must be eliminated from the board. Any pucks in question will be called by three or five people either in a game-deciding scenario or in the money rounds.

    One-Point Penalty Violations

    • Penalty points will be given to a player if he (1) rubs his hand in any way over the playing surface; (2) holds a playing weight in his hand while his opponent shoots; (3) extends half of his body beyond the end of the board; (4) touches the playing surface of the board with his playing hand before, during, or after shooting. A player is not allowed to cause any vibration, including stamping of feet on the floor or slapping the table.

    Scoring

    • A player̵7;s weight is considered dead if it falls from the board before his opponent̵7;s following weight stops moving. A player will obtain 1, 2, or 3 points, respectively, if she has weights that land in the first, second, or third area. If a line was touched by any of the player̵7;s pucks, she will gain points per lower scoring area.
