Types of Air Hockey Tables

Air hockey is a table game that can be played by people of different ages and varying abilities. Some air hockey tables are very simple while others have features that enhance the game, and even add difficulty to it. Simple air hockey tables tend to cost less and require fewer set up procedures, as opposed to the enhanced tables which require more set up time and typically have a higher price tag.
  1. Tabletop Air Hockey

    • Tabletop air hockey games have the same features as the larger floor standing models. This type of game is designed to be used on a table, however, it can also be set up on a floor or other flat surface.

    Standard Table

    • A standard air hockey table can range in size from four to seven feet in length. Players are expected to keep track of their own scores.

    Air Hockey Tables With Features

    • Some air hockey tables have special features that are built in or that can be added on. Special features can include running lights for decorative purposes, or lights that help keep score. A feature that can be added to some air hockey tables is a visual blind. A visual blind is placed above the middle of the table, and restricts the view of the air hockey puck as it passes over the table, increasing the difficulty of the game.

    Combination Tables

    • Air hockey tables can be designed to easily convert into other types of games. One example is a pool and air hockey table combination. With this design the players can easily rotate the table to choose either an air hockey table or a pool table. Air hockey tables can also serve as storage for other types of games, creating a combination game table.
