Things You'll Need
Instructions
Add rubber chair tips to the bottom of the feet of the pool table---the same ones that are used for chairs (See Resources.)---if they will fit. While there still might be an indentation in the carpet, the rubber will help stop the wooden feet from tearing into the carpet fibers.
Set furniture movers under each of the pool table legs. These are sliding disks with foam tops and plastic bottoms that float on top of the carpet. They will help protect the carpeting, plus whenever you need to move the table, all you have to do is push it around with these disks under the feet.
Place a hard plastic or acrylic mat down over the carpet---the type of mat that someone might use to tap dance on or that would be set under an office chair. Keep in mind that while this will protect the carpet from the feet, the area underneath the mat could flatten slightly.
Lay two thick area rugs (preferably with burlap backing) down over the carpeting before you position the pool table. This will create a buffer between the feet and the carpeting underneath. Move the pool table over a few inches every two months on the area rug.
