Object of the Game
Try to be the first person or two-person team to get to 75 points.
Rules
Flip a coin to determine the first player or choice of hammer color. Yellow discs, or pucks, go first. Place yellow discs on the left side and black discs on the right. A small triangle will indicate the middle of these areas.
Players take turns sliding individual discs with the cue, or stick, starting in the 10-off area at one end and trying to finish in the scoring area at the other end. The scoring area is divided into five sections: the tip of triangle is worth 10 points; two eight-point squares; two seven-point squares; and the 10-off square is at the end.
Players try to get their discs in the scoring area closest to the end while trying to attempt to push their opponents' discs out of play or into the 10-off area without pushing their own falling off.
Discs are removed from play if they don't reach the dead line which lies in front of the 10-off line or if the disc tips off the edge of the court.
When all eight discs are played, it is called an end. Being the last person to play at the end is considered a strategic advantage called "holding the hammer."
Scoring
Games go to 75 points. Play all eight discs. A disc must be entirely in a scoring area and not touching the sides to receive points. Discs that are on top of each other still score as long as it follows the other qualifying rules.
Equipment
Two sets of discs are needed to play. One set will be yellow and one will be black. The discs will be 6 inches in diameter, 9/16-inch to 1-inch thick, and weigh 15 oz.
Cues are needed to push the discs. This is a long pole 61/2 feet long with two prongs.
The playing surface should be a 52-foot long rectangle.
Where to Play
A smooth, hard surface outside that allows for marking a 52-foot rectangle and the required areas for play.
