Christian Counselor
After a stressful week of work, studies, being a mom, or other challenges, what woman doesn't want to get together with other women to unwind and to just talk? Enhance group interaction with a popular group talking game called Christian Counselor. To play this game, seat all the ladies in a circle and choose one lady to be the Counselor. Ask her to leave the room while all her "patients" decide together their common need for counsel. Perhaps everyone believes they are plagues in the Bible, or that they are all Old Testament prophets. There's room for lots of creativity here. Once the group makes the decision, invite the Counselor back into the room and ask her to figure out who or what everyone is. Encourage her to ask any question she likes, but to only ask one person at a time. Be prepared for hilarious answers and to see a side of some Christian ladies you haven't seen before!
St. Peter's Cave
Transition to a more serious side with a game called St. Peter's Cave. According to Sacred Destinations, an online guide to religious sites, The Cave of St. Peter is believed to be a central meeting place of the early Christian church. (See Reference 1) To represent the dark tunnels behind the cave through which Christians may have fled to escape persecution, turn off all the lights in the room and explain the simple rules of the game. Ask one lady to either sing a stanza from a hymn, quote a Bible verse, share an answer to prayer, or simply say one of the names of God. When she is finished, she calls on another lady in the room, who immediately does the same. The object of the game is to keep the prayer meeting going for a set period of time with no lapses in between. Christian women usually enjoy the challenge of thinking quickly and will also benefit from the time of spiritual encouragement.
Showers of Blessing
As the host of a church baby or bridal shower, you certainly have your hands full. Keep the event simple with one game that centers around the guest of honor and the purpose for the shower. Pass out index cards to guests when they arrive and ask them to each write down one piece of advice on how not to be the Proverbs 31 woman of biblical fame. Encourage humor and telling of personal experiences. Be sure to instruct the ladies to keep their cards anonymous. Once everyone is seated around the guest of honor, give her the cards and ask her to read each one out loud and then to guess who wrote it. Keep in mind that this is most ideal for small groups where the ladies know each other.
