The Basic Rules
Toss the ring onto the peg. You might think the game is that simple, but it's not. The Halex Ring Toss game comes with a five-pegged ring holder (also called scoring target) and four rings, two green and two yellow. The pegs are all given a point value with the four outer pegs of equal value and the center peg being worth twice as much (or three or four times as much) as the outer pegs. The players can determine point values if desired. The rings are differently colored so the players can distinguish each other's throws. Halex Ring Toss is designed to be played by two players. Each player takes a turn tossing his two rings from a distance of 10 to 15 feet and tallying up points. A point is scored only when the ring goes completely around the peg, not when it is caught on the top.
After three rounds, the score is totaled and the winner is declared.
Other Forms of Play
Take away a few pegs. The Halex Ring Game has detachable pegs and fewer pegs makes for a more challenging game. Another option is to shoot for the middle ring. In a one-shot version of the game, players can aim only for the center ring. The player who gets it wins. For probably the most challenging option imaginable, the players can toss to hit four poles back to back. Each player would get to toss with four rings and whoever can land one ring on each peg back to back wins.
A Word on Tossing
The two basic methods for throwing the ring are tossing and flipping. To toss the ring, hold it in your hand, curve your wrist slightly and fling the ring outward horizontally and straight toward the peg. To flip, hold one side of the ring, bend your wrist down and flip it upwards, as if you are tossing a horseshoe.
