How to Play the Bean Bag Game

Depending on where you live, you might know this game as corn toss, beanbag toss or cornhole. All of these require players on two teams to take turns aiming beanbags at a hole in a tilted platform. The first team to score 21 points wins. Lower this score for younger players, for a shorter game. Find beanbag platforms on the Internet or by following the directions in the resources to build your own.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the two beanbag platforms with the slopes facing each other, 27 feet apart, with 33 feet between the holes.

    • 2

Two single players may play against each other; organize four players into teams of two. Give each team four beanbags and allow the teams to choose which platform they will use as a target. Players stand behind the platform opposite their target while they wait their turns.

    • 3

The first player stands to the left or the right side of the platform and tosses one beanbag toward the opposite platform. His teammate follows with his own toss. Then the first player takes a turn, and the top of the inning finishes with the second player tossing the fourth bag for the team. The bottom of the inning has the second team alternate players in the same fashion, tossing their beanbags toward their target platform.

    • 4

Award three points for each beanbag that falls into the hole and one point for those that land on the platform.

    • 5

Continue playing until one team reaches 21 points. If this occurs in the middle of an inning (team's turn), complete the inning before ending the beanbag game.
