Disney's the Haunted Mansion PS2 Game Hints & Tips

Based off the Disney movie starring Eddie Murphy, "The Haunted Mansion" eventually was adapted as a video game in 2003 for the Xbox, PlayStation 2 and GameCube game consoles. Like any game, The Haunted Mansion has a handful of hints, tips and secrets that gamers can use to make their experience easier.
  1. Avoiding Damage

    • In The Haunted Mansion, you have a limited amount of health on your life bar, which you need to conserve, so it's important to use some strategy in dealing with each baddie.

When ghosts are chasing after you, for instance, you may be tempted to stay and fight them. Of course, this runs the risk of damaging your character. Instead, try and find a light switch. Flipping one on will cause all of the ghosts to vanish. This way, you don't have to deal with them.

Also, when combating spiders, you can actually beat them by stepping on them. While this is tempting, when there are a whole lot of spiders, it's a better idea to just shoot them from a distance. This will keep you safe, helping you to avoid taking damage.

    Save and quit

    • If you're running low on health, there's a surefire way to replenish it without using any items. When your character has received a critical amount of damage, find a save point. Once there, save your game and quit. When you reload your file, your character's health will be full again. You can do this as often as you like, and while it's time-consuming, it will help you avoid seeing a game over screen.

    Other hints

    • One way to make The Haunted Mansion easier is to adjust the game's brightness level in the options menu. Although you will have to readjust this setting each time you play the game, having it set to full brightness will allow you to see enemies from further away, making it easier to plan your actions.

If you're ever stuck, you can press one of the buttons on the d-pad to get a hint. It is something that should be used sparingly but can really help in those sticky situations where you're not sure what to do next.

Also, keep an ear out. Whenever enemies are nearby, they tend to make some noise. If you pay attention, you'll be able to hear enemies coming before you even see them, giving you time to prepare for an encounter.
