Games to Play With Airsoft Guns

Airsoft guns are BB guns that are modeled after assault weapons, such as the M16, the M4 or the Baretta pistol. They fire plastic BBs and are used in contests similar to paintball games. Players who are hit by a BB are out of the game. Hit players must hold their arms over their heads as they walk to a safety zone. Once out, a player cannot communicate with the other players until the game is over.
  1. Capture the Flag

    • Two teams try to capture the opposing team's flag and return it to their base. Players are removed from the game if they are shot. A team can win the game if it eliminates all of the opposing players or if they capture the opposing player's flag and return it to their base.
To set up the game, designate two areas in your playing field as the bases. Organize into two teams and give each team a different colored handkerchief or banner to act as the flag. The flag must be in plain sight and must remain in the base. Players start at their base but can branch out when the game begins.

    Hostage Rescue

    • In the hostage rescue scenario, one team is composed of rescuers and hostages while the other team are the guards. The goal of the game is to rescue the hostages or to prevent the hostages from being rescued, depending on which team you are on. The guards can hide the hostages anywhere in the playing field. The hostages do not have to remain together. They can be split up and moved. Initially, the hostages do not have airsoft guns. The rescuers are allowed to supply airsoft guns to the hostages if they successfully rescue them.
Some rules apply to this scenario: First, the guards are allowed to "execute" hostages if they spot rescuers coming. Second, the rescuers can win the game if they rescue at least 50 percent of the hostages.

    Free-for-All

    • The free-for-all airsoft game is anarchy. There are no teams. It is every player for himself. The game begins with every player meeting in the middle of the playing field. As soon as the start of the game is called, a cease-fire is in effect for a short period of time (from 30 seconds to a couple of minutes). This period of time allows the players the opportunity to find a hiding spot and develop a strategy. After the cease-fire, players must try to eliminate all of the other players before they are eliminated. The last player standing wins the game.
