Handbag Bingo
This party game starts with blank bingo cards made from full-sized sheets of paper divided into 24 squares. You will also need to cut up smaller squares of paper, 24 per guest. Each player receives one bingo card and 24 squares of paper. The girls then take small items from their purses or bags and lay them over the bingo squares, writing the name of each item on a blank square of paper and then giving the squares to the game leader. You may use such items as coins (nickels, dimes, pennies and quarters), lip gloss, a driver's license or library card, dollar bills, pens, candy and hair ties. Collect all the squares, remove the duplicate papers (there will likely be more than one of each) and throw the squares in a bowl. Mix them well and draw out one at a time. As each item is drawn, the girls remove the matching items from their bingo cards. The first girl with an empty row on her bingo card wins.
No-Mirror Makeovers
This is a great game for slumber parties and usually a howl for all involved. You will need a plethora of makeup including eye shadows, tubes of lipstick and gloss, face makeup and foundations, blushes, eyeliners and tubes of mascara. Divide the girls into teams of two. Within each team, Girl A will give directions, hints and tips to Girl B as Girl B attempts to apply makeup to her own face without the help of a mirror. Setting a time limit can add to the hilarity as each girl rushes to complete her makeover, leading to some rather creative results. After the first round, have the teammates switch jobs.
Mall Scavenger Hunt
This game, described by The Game Girl (see References 2), is loads of fun and a great activity for a large group of teen girls. Divide participants into teams of two to five girls. The object of the game is to find people wearing or carrying certain items in the mall. Pictures must be taken with a digital or cell-phone camera to prove the items were actually spotted by team members (be sure to ask permission of the subjects first). The girls can search for things such as black-framed glasses, a missing tooth, a particular color of socks or shoes, or a baby in a stroller. The more difficult the list, the longer the game lasts. Be sure to agree on a time for the game to end and a final meeting place in advance. The team with the most items spotted wins.
