Topfschlage
Topfschlage translates in English to "Hit the pot." The game requires two players. Like in the American game of tag one child is named "it." The child who is "it" closes his eyes while the second player places a pot upside down on the floor with a hidden prize, such as candy or a toy. Then, the child who is "it" is handed a cooking spoon and has to crawl around the floor flailing the spoon until he hits the pot. When he hits the pot, he can open his eyes and take the prize.
Koffer Packen
Koffer packen (the suitcase game) is played by a group of young children. The children sit in a circle and create a song by adding their own individual phrases to the existing phrase. The child who starts the game sings the sentence, "I packed my suitcase and place a book inside." Then, the child sitting to the left of the starter must sing the sentence and add his own phrase. For example the second player would sing, "I pack my suitcase and place a book inside, then I pack a telephone along for the ride." The third player would sing something along the lines of, "I pack my suitcase and place a book inside, then I pack a telephone along for the ride, I pack a toothbrush to brush my teeth." Each player must sing the song, include the phrases added by the other players and add his own phrase to the song. The game continues until a player forgets to include a part of the song. The last player to sing the song correctly wins the game.
Stopessen
If your kids are fond of the game, "Simon Says," they'll be giddy to play this game. Stopessen translates to "stop eating" in English. A group of kids must be placed around a table of food; ideally the game will take place at a casual get-together, such as a barbecue or sleepover, as this can get messy. Then, one of the kids is chosen to be the leader. Like Simon Says, the leader will scream out orders. When they hear the command "Fast forward," the kids are to chomp down what they're eating or drinking as fast as they can. "Freeze" tells kids to freeze in their current position, even if they're pouring milk into cereal or pouring a cup of juice. The command "Slow motion," tells kids to eat as slowly as humanly possible. The game is over when the leader screams "Continue," and the kids then continue eating in a normal fashion.
