How to Glue a Puzzle to Make a Picture

When you finish a beautiful landscape or work-of-art jigsaw puzzle that required hours of concentration to accomplish, don't just dismantle it and throw the pieces back into the box. Instead, glue the puzzle together to keep the happy memories of the puzzle construction as a family vacation project or rainy day activity alive. Place the completed and glued puzzle on display as a piece of art that also represents a job well done.

Things You'll Need

  • Completed jigsaw puzzle
  • 3 corrugated cardboard sheets larger than the puzzle
  • Self-healing cutting mat
  • Modeling knife

Instructions

    • 1

Slide a piece of cardboard under the completed jigsaw puzzle and transfer both to the cutting mat.

    • 2

Cut the cardboard around the jigsaw puzzle to create a frame that will keep the puzzle from shifting during the gluing process.

    • 3

Cover the entire work surface with newspaper. Slide a second piece of cardboard under the puzzle and place another piece on top of the puzzle. Carefully flip the puzzle and transfer the puzzle-cardboard sandwich to the work surface, with the puzzle face down. Slide out the bottom cardboard and take off the top cardboard. Place the cardboard frame created in Step 2 around the puzzle.

    • 4

Spray glue on the back of the puzzle.

    • 5

Place the stiff paper backing over the glue and smooth out any wrinkles. Cut the paper backing to the exact size of the puzzle with the knife.
