Candles
With parental supervision, girls can play a game involving candles to predict their future. To start, a girl lights one green, one orange and one pink candle. Her friends then blindfold her and shuffle the candles into different positions. The girl who is blindfolded spins around at least three times. Her friends position her in front of the candles and she blows one of them out. If she blows out the orange candle, it means that travel is in her future. If she snuffs out the green candle, she̵7;s about to get a financial gift while blowing out the pink candle indicates that love is on the horizon.
Hide and Seek
Combine fortune telling with a scavenger hunt by hiding tape, three tags, one ring, one feather and a penny in a room. Write down future predictions on the tags and attach them to the items. Halloween Howl recommends that the tag taped to the feather should promise good health, a penny should say that a girl can count on getting money soon and a ring denotes that she will marry "Prince Charming."
Folding Game
Girls can make their own paper fortune telling device by following the steps on the Mathematische Bastelein website. Starting with a piece of paper, draw a line from one corner to slightly under the middle point on the opposite side. Fold the paper at that line and cut off the bottom part of the paper so that it is a small square. Next, fold the paper at the opposite corners so that the creases create an "X" before folding each of the corners inward so that the tips touch each other. Flip over the paper and fold it again so that the pointed tips again touch in the center to form eight triangles, all of which meet in the middle. After folding the paper backwards, unfold it and pleat it again in the middle in a square. Open it up so that there are four holes that the fingers can fit into. When a girl squeezes the paper together, four squares are visible and when she opens her fingers, another four squares will be visible. Girls can write down whatever fortune that they want on each of the squares and pick a word. As they spell the word, they open the paper and then close it, picking one of the four fortunes.
Playing Cards
Websites such as Café Astrology explain what each playing card means so that girls can predict each other̵7;s futures. For example, the ace of hearts indicates that happiness and affection are coming a girl̵7;s way, while 8 of hearts promises that a visit or present from someone unexpected. The 10 of spades indicates that a person is about to get bad news and a 9 of diamonds states that a girl will be traveling soon.
Paper Bags
Girls label bags with the words ̶0;Career,̶1; ̶0;Country,̶1; ̶0;Residence,̶1; ̶0;Pet̶1; and ̶0;Car.̶1; Each girl takes six index cards and writes down what future job she wants, her dream job, what type of car she wants to own, and so forth. They then put the cards in the respective bags and take turns pulling out one from each bag, reading them aloud and hearing their future.
